The New York Knicks finally did it, and Danhausen may never let anyone forget it.
The Knicks won their first NBA Championship in 53 years after beating the San Antonio Spurs 94-90 in Game 5 of the 2026 NBA Finals. New York had not won it all since 1973, but that drought is officially over.
The wild part is that this happened after Danhausen “uncursed” the Knicks during their playoff run. That strange wrestling crossover became a fun part of the team’s championship story, and now Knicks fans actually have a title to celebrate.
Jalen Brunson carried New York in the closeout game, scoring 45 points and hitting a go-ahead floater with 65 seconds left. The Knicks had to fight back again after trailing by as many as 16 points.
The Knicks also made history earlier in the series when they erased a 29-point deficit in Game 4, completing the largest comeback in NBA Finals history. Victor Wembanyama gave the Knicks trouble with five blocks and 14 rebounds, but he only scored 19 points on 17 shots as New York closed out the series.
Now, all eyes are on whether WWE does anything with Danhausen. According to earlier reports, WWE had been excited about the attention Danhausen was getting from the Knicks connection. There had been talk about using him at Madison Square Garden for Saturday Night’s Main Event if the Knicks won the Finals. There were also ideas for Danhausen at Fanatics Fest that same weekend, including possible content and merchandise tied to his Knicks moment.
The Knicks winning the championship is already huge, but doing it after Danhausen “uncursed” them gives the whole thing a very pro wrestling twist. Now it remains to be seen whether WWE runs with it in New York.
