Peat was a five-star recruit in the class of 2025 who decided to stay in-state to play at Arizona. In his only season with the Wildcats, he averaged 14.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. He shot 52.8 percent from the floor, 35 percent from deep and 62.3 percent from the free-throw line. His play helped the Wildcats make the Final Four.
Following the Final Four, Peat declared for the 2026 NBA Draft. He is currently projected to be a mid to late first-round pick.
Koa Peat Strengths
He isn’t the tallest player for his position, but Peat has good strength at 6-foot-7 and 245 pounds, which is very impressive given his age. His wingspan reaches out to nearly seven feet long, which helps him match up with bigger players. Peat has a well-built frame that is ready for the physicality of the NBA.
Especially given that he has a good frame for the NBA, Peat’s athleticism stands out. Peat moves well for a player of his size, showing good quickness and speed. This helps him in transition to run the floor, but also get back and defend. He is a good jumper, with the ability to throw down acrobatic dunks, block shots and rebound well.
His defensive ability is great. Peat is able to slide his feet to stay in front of his matchup, but also uses his length well. He has the strength to battle down in the post as well. Peat is a good team defender, who is able to switch and guard multiple positions, but also provides help when needed.
Koa Peat Weaknesses
Peat needs to improve his shooting in both his form and his percentages. While he shot 35 percent from deep, it was on a very limited number of attempts from deep. He didn’t shoot many mid-range jumpers either. Peat struggled at the free-throw line, shooting 62.3 percent. He is best offensively near the basket or making cuts that get him closer to the range.
He doesn’t have the greatest height for a player who will mostly be playing in the post. Peat will be matched up with much bigger players and will have to learn how to score and defend them. He is a bit of a tweener, but his athleticism can help him. If he can become a small-ball center, it could make his teams better.
His defensive ability is of good quality, but he won’t make many impact plays. He registered 0.6 steals and 0.7 blocks per game, which are both lower than expected for a player of his abilities. Peat can work on being more aggressive on the defensive end to generate bigger plays.
