Kyle Fletcher officially announced that he’s cleared to return to in-ring action during the May 27 AEW Collision, and it didn’t take long for things to explode afterward.
The moment happened after Mark Davis defeated Jack Perry in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament quarterfinals. Following the match, Don Callis grabbed the microphone and declared that Konosuke Takeshita was never truly “the chosen one” in the Don Callis Family.
Instead, Callis claimed it was always Fletcher. Fletcher then took over and revealed he is now 100% medically cleared for competition. He also made it clear there’s no fixing his relationship with Takeshita, admitting he wanted to reach the top alongside him but saying he has zero regrets about betraying him.
That immediately brought Takeshita out. Takeshita confronted Fletcher alongside members of The Conglomeration and Mark Briscoe, making it obvious this issue is far from over. The segment heavily teased Fletcher and Takeshita finally colliding now that Fletcher has officially been cleared to compete again.
AEW has been slowly building tension between the former allies, and Fletcher’s return announcement finally pushed things into the next phase. Takeshita also made his intentions clear during the confrontation — he wants Fletcher. With Fletcher now healthy enough to wrestle again, AEW suddenly has another major feud ready to go involving two of the company’s hardest-hitting stars.
