Layla’s WWE return almost happened years before fans saw her back around the company.
During an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Layla was asked if WWE had ever invited her to come back for something like the Women’s Royal Rumble or Evolution. It turns out WWE did reach out, but the timing couldn’t have been worse. Layla confirmed that WWE had contacted her before, but she couldn’t remember every specific event they had in mind. She did remember one major detail about the last invite she got.
“Yeah, actually there was. I did get invited to a couple of stuff. I can’t remember exactly which was, but the last time I think they invited me was in 2021, but I was pregnant. I didn’t tell people.”
Chris pointed out that wrestling while pregnant obviously wasn’t going to happen, and Layla agreed. That explains why fans never got that surprise Layla pop during that period. WWE did try to bring her back, but she had something much bigger going on in her personal life at the time. Chris then asked if she would want another opportunity somewhere down the line. Layla didn’t sound desperate for it, but she admitted a one-off appearance could be something she would consider.
“If it was a one-off thing, an anniversary show or something like that, maybe. Yeah, maybe. I think so. If the offer comes, then probably. Yeah, I probably would say yes.”
That is a very different answer from someone begging for a comeback. Layla sounds open to the right moment, but not interested in forcing anything just because fans remember her. Her return to the WWE world at Michelle McCool’s Hall of Fame induction already showed there is still love for Layla and LayCool. A Royal Rumble spot or anniversary show cameo would make sense, especially with WWE leaning into nostalgia when the moment fits.
For now, Layla isn’t promising anything, but she isn’t completely closing the door either. WWE already tried once, and if they call again with the right one-night idea, fans might finally get that comeback moment.
