Leading-Edge Instructional Publication tennisplayer.net Offers New Insights for Juniors & Their Families

May is National Tennis Month. As the USTA writes on its website celebrating the month, “Whether you are a coach ready to host the action or a player—new, experienced, or returning—ready to hit the court, it’s time to get moving.”

And when it comes to doing that, thousands of junior players throughout the country are eager to step up their games in anticipation of a busy summer focused on competition and the quest to generate excellent results.

To help their efforts, the latest issue of tennisplayer.net is titled, “The Next Big Things in Junior Tennis.” As the sport’s preeminent instructional publication, backed by its archive of 70,000 videos and 1,600 articles, tennisplayer.net for more than 20 years has provided deep dives into everything from the ready position to volley technique, lessons from the greats, tactical insights, and much more.

“Our commitment is to helping tennis players learn, compete, and improve,” said tennisplayer.net executive editor Joel Drucker. “No one personifies that more than junior players and their parents.”

The four new articles in this month’s edition of tennisplayer.net explore a wide range of topics relevant for dedicated juniors. Barry Buss, a former letterman at UCLA and, most recently, author of the new book, First Ball To Last: Emotional Intelligence For The Competitve Tennis Player, has written a story titled, “So You’re Taking Your Child to Nationals for the First Time,” aimed at helping parents navigate the thickets of an exciting and challenging crossroads moment.

There are also three pieces that address one of the most essential technical aspects in all of tennis: footwork. Buss’ fellow Bruin, 1980 Australian Open champion Brian Teacher, has authored, “Building World-Class Footwork” – a bold piece that explores the physical effort it takes to build effective footwork skills. Alongside Teacher, veteran instructor Kyle LaCroix offers, “The Future of Coaching: Why Movement Intelligence Is the Next Frontier in Junior Tennis,” an innovative look at how coaches can best explore footwork. And the fourth piece, penned by longstanding tennisplayer.net editor and art director Giancarlo “GC” Andreani, provides pointers on a movement that technique that in recent years has become increasingly popular: sliding on hard courts.

“These four instructors are each incredibly insightful,” said Drucker. “People who read these stories are guaranteed to learn new techniques that will greatly help them improve.”

Several tennisplayer.net “Classics” are also featured in the new issue, including stories on psychology, discipline, and match play tactics from such renowned coaches as Allen Fox and the late Robert Lansdorp.
