Lerrone Richards has called for “justice” after being on the wrong end of a highly contentious split decision loss to Albert Ramirez.
Richards dominated Ramirez in their WBA interim light heavyweight title battle in Canada on Thursday, only to be denied a potential world title shot on the cards.
The 33-year-old’s management team S-JAM Boxing are set to file an appeal to the WBA on Tuesday and the Brit admits he shed tears after seeing his dreams controversially dashed in Montreal.
“After the result was read out I was devastated,” Richards told proboxing-fans.com.
“I went back to the changing room and I’ll be honest, I broke down and I cried.
“I’m a winner. Being robbed in that type of way is devastating.
“The fair result would be for it to be overturned, if not overturned made to be a no contest or no decision and me and Ramirez to run it back.
“I’m leaving that with the team and hopefully we get news within the next week or two.”

Victory for ‘Sniper The Boss’ would have put him in line for a shot at WBA light heavyweight world champion, Dmitry Bivol, who also holds the IBF and WBO belts.
Instead, Richards suffered a second defeat in three outings, having previously been stopped in six rounds by Steed Woodall in 2024.
Richards though is hopeful that justice will be served once the WBA have read the appeal.

“I should be sitting here saying that I’m WBA interim world champion,” he added.
“I’m in line for Dmitry Bivol. I’m in a position to provide for family and secure my kids’ lives, but we’re not having this conversation.
“I just hope out of a bad situation something good comes out of it, because I’m am the champ no matter what and the whole world knows it.

“There should be no dispute.
“There should be no controversy.
“You should just give me the win, give me what I worked hard for, give me what I deserve.
”I would love justice.”
