Looking to shut down speculation about LIV Golf’s future, the organisation’s chief executive Scott O’Neil has said the league was going nowhere but forward.

In a letter to his organisation’s employees in New York, London and Mexico, which is currently hosting the sixth leg of the season and widely shared with the press, O’Neil said there would be no change in plans for the season.

There was no word on what will follow in 2027 and the CEO admitted in February that LIV Golf would not be profitable for another five to 10 years.

For the moment, the initiative is focussed on quelling speculation around the league’s imminent demise triggered by reports that Saudi sovereign fund PIF could end its support given circumstances prevailing in West Asia.

“While the media landscape is often filled with speculation, our reality is defined by the work we do on the grass. We are heading into the heart of our 2026 schedule with the full energy of an organisation that is bigger, louder, and more influential than ever before,” O’Neil wrote.

Defining moments

“The life of a startup movement is often defined by these moments of pressure. We signed up for this because we believe in disrupting the status quo.

“We have faced headwinds since the jump, and we’ve answered every time with resilience and grace. Now, we answer by doing what we do best: putting on the most compelling show in sports.”

“To the teams in New York, London, and those on the ground here with me in Mexico: lean into this moment. The noise you hear is simply the sound of a movement that is working.

“Embrace it. We are pioneers, and while the road isn’t always smooth, the destination is worth every mile. Let’s go out and show the world why LIV Golf is the future of the game.

“I want to be crystal clear: Our season continues exactly as planned, uninterrupted and at full throttle.”

LIV Golf Mexico (April 16 to 19) will be followed by LIV Golf Virginia from May 7 to 10. A further seven events thereafter complete the 2026 season.
