Liverpool Fans to ‘show FSG the Yellow Card’

Liverpool supporters will continue to protest against the planned ticket price increases during Crystal Palace‘s visit, with plans to ‘show FSG the yellow card’.

Protests against Liverpool’s decision to increase ticket prices for the next three seasons have been underway since the visit of Fulham.

The club have cited rising operational costs for the decision, while pointing out that rivals have increased prices more frequently, and they continue to insist they will not back down.

Supporters are wary of the precedent the rise will set, and protests so far have seen flags taken away from the Kop and calls to boycott spending in the ground.

The latest call to action from Spirit of Shankly calls for supporters to ‘Show FSG the yellow card’ in the 13th minute of the match.

On Saturday, yellow A4 cards will be handed out outside Anfield and in surrounding pubs, with the move seeking to demonstrate it is not simply ‘some’ supporters opposed to the price increases.

Spirit of Shankly are calling for supporters to be “seen” and “heard,” with their yellow cards reading: “Enough is enough. John Henry and FSG are ignoring us.

“They’re not listening. They think we will go away. They are briefing the media that this is ‘Only a minority’.

“A minority? Thousands have said no. The Supporters’ Board said no. They’ve pushed it through anyway. Locking in three years of price rises at Anfield.

“Up to 13% increases. Tickets heading towards £70. Season tickets over £1,000. Enough is enough.

“On the 13th minute, give John Henry a warning. Raise your yellow card. Be seen. Be heard. Tell them: Enough is enough.”

The protests will continue and escalate the longer Liverpool do not back down and find a way forward alongside supporter groups, with the message clear that increases will not be blindly accepted.
