Premier League champions Liverpool visit rivals Manchester United on Sunday.

Arne Slot’s side may have failed to defend their top flight crown, but the Merseyside outfit are on course to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

The Reds currently sit fourth in the top flight table, and United – who sit third – are also set to qualify for Europe’s club competition next term.

Ahead of Sunday’s intriguing game, it has emerged that Liverpool have joined United in the race to sign a Bundesliga full-back.

According to German outlet Fussball Daten, via TEAMtalk, Liverpool are showing interest in Borussia Dortmund star Daniel Svensson, who is also on the radar of Man United.

Svensson, 24, joined Dortmund on loan from Danish side Nordsjaelland in January last year, before making his move permanent last summer after a successful spell.

In total he has now made more than 60 appearances for the German outfit across all competitions, scoring six times and providing the same number of assists.

The report claims that Liverpool have identified Svensson as one of their top targets as they search for a replacement for Andy Robertson, who will depart Anfield when his contract expires at the end of the current campaign.

Serie A leaders Inter Milan are also said to be showing significant interest in the Swede, while fellow Italian outfits AC Milan and Atalanta are also credited with an interest in the player.

Svensson’s current contract with Borussia Dortmund is set to expire at the end of the 2028/29 season, but it appears that some of Europe’s biggest clubs could attempt to lure him away from Germany this summer.

The report also suggests that Svensson himself could be open to a move, but would demand as much as £100,000-per-week.
