Liverpool’s hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League were handed a huge boost as they beat Everton 2-1 in the Merseyside derby on Sunday.
After Beto had cancelled out Mohamed Salah’s opener, Reds captain Virgil van Dijk header home the winner deep into added-time, earning Arne Slot’s side a higely important victory in the race for a top five finish.
The result leaves Liverpool fifth in the Premier League table, but they now boast a seven-point lead over sixth-placed Chelsea in the race to qualify for Europe’s premier club competition next time.
Off the pitch, it has emerged that the reigning Premier League champions are interested in a French midfielder.
As reported by TEAMtalk, Liverpool are exploring a possible move to sign Sunderland midfielder Enzo Le Fee.
The report claims that the Reds initially expressed an interest in Le Fee last year, but the Merseyside outfit are now set to reignite their interest in the player ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

Le Fee, 26, joined the Black Cats on loan from Serie A giants Roma in January last year, and made his switch permanent last summer after impressing hugely in the Championship during the second part of last term.
So far this season the midfielder has made 35 appearances for Regis Le Bris’ side, taking his total for Sunderland to 53 across all competitions since joining the club.
It is claimed that Liverpool have identified the Frenchman as a potential target as they look to bolster their squad this summer, however the Reds will face stiff competition in the race to land the midfielder as several other sides towards the top end of the Premier League are also monitoring the player.
Sunderland will also be understandably reluctant to allow Le Fee to leave The Stadium of Light, with Le Fee under contract until the summer of 2029.
