Liverpool visit old rivals Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

Both sides are currently well-placed to finish in the top five and qualify for next season’s Champions League, with the Reds sitting fourth and United occupying third place.

Reds boss Arne Slot will be desperate to see his side get the better of United, with the Merseyside outfit having failed miserable in their efforts to retain their Premier League crown.

Ahead of their trip to Old Trafford, it has emerged that Liverpool are monitoring a talented Ligue 1 youngster.

As per CaughtOffside, Liverpool are currently leading the race to sign winger Ibrahim Mbaye from French champions Paris Saint-Germain.

The report claims that the Merseyside outfit are one of several teams monitoring the 18-year-old’s situation ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

Mbaye is a product of PSG’s youth system and has played 39 times for the club at senior level, scoring twice and providing four assists.

The teenager has struggled for regular opportunities of late, though, and the report suggests that he could therefore be on the move this summer with several clubs keeping tabs on the player.

Mbaye’s contract with the Champions League holders is set to run until the end of the 2027/28 campaign, but it appears that clubs could look to lure him away from Paris this summer.

The player himself is said to be increasingly open to the idea of a move elsewhere, despite joining PSG at a very young age.

The Senegal international – who has scored three goals in ten appearances for his country – is capable of playing on either flank and can also operate as an attacking midfielder.

Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Brighton and Hove Albion, Manchester City, and West Ham United are all also credited with an interest in the winger.
