Which Team Has the Most Consecutive Wins in IPL History?
Kolkata Knight Riders hold the record for the most consecutive wins by a team in IPL history, with 10 straight victories across the 2014 and 2015 seasons.
That streak included the final stretch of IPL 2014, Qualifier 1, the 2014 final, and the opening match of IPL 2015. No other IPL franchise has come closer than eight in a row.
How We Counted This Record
Only official IPL matches are counted. League-stage matches, playoffs, and finals are all included.
A winning streak can continue across seasons if the team wins its next IPL match. Champions League T20 games and other tournaments are not part of this count.

Joint-longest MI winning streak |
1. Kolkata Knight Riders — 10 Wins in 2014–15
KKR’s run is the gold standard, and it almost did not happen.
Midway through IPL 2014, Gautam Gambhir’s KKR were struggling and looked unlikely to make the playoffs. They then won their last seven league matches, followed by Qualifier 1 and the final — nine straight IPL wins in 2014, one of the most memorable campaigns in the IPL winners list — before winning their opening match of IPL 2015 to make it 10 IPL wins on the trot.
The bigger picture is even more remarkable: across all T20s in that period, including the 2014 Champions League T20, KKR won 14 in a row. But for IPL-only records, the number is 10.Why it stands out: this streak spanned playoffs and a season break — two of the hardest filters in cricket.
2. Punjab Kings — 8 Wins in 2013–14
At the time, they were called Kings XI Punjab.
Punjab ended IPL 2013 strongly, winning their last three matches. Then, under captain George Bailey and coach Sanjay Bangar, they opened IPL 2014 with five straight wins. That added up to eight consecutive IPL victories, second only to KKR.
Glenn Maxwell drove the campaign with the bat and was named the IPL 2014 MVP. Punjab topped the league stage and reached the final, where they lost to KKR — the team that would soon break their record.
3. Chennai Super Kings and RCB — 7 Wins Each
Two teams sit tied in third place, both with seven consecutive wins.
Chennai Super Kings’ 7-Match Streak in 2013
MS Dhoni’s CSK were ruthlessly consistent in 2013. Their seven-match run was CSK’s longest winning streak in IPL history. CSK reached the final that season, but lost to Mumbai Indians.
RCB’s 7-Match Streak in 2011
RCB began IPL 2011 poorly: a win, then three losses. Then Chris Gayle came in as an injury replacement for Dirk Nannes — and changed everything. RCB won seven in a row, topped the league stage, and reached the final, where they lost to CSK by 58 runs. Gayle was named Player of the Tournament.
Teams With 6 Consecutive Wins in IPL
A six-match streak is rare enough that it has been achieved only by a select group of teams.
Mumbai Indians — 2008, 2017, 2025
MI are the only team to hit a six-win streak three times, which is no surprise given their place among the teams with the most IPL titles won by a team.
The 2008 run came after a poor 0–4 start. The 2017 streak came during their third title-winning season under Rohit Sharma. The 2025 run was similar to 2008 — MI lost four of their first five matches, then strung together six wins to revive their season.
Rajasthan Royals — 2008
The Shane Warne-led Royals finished their debut season as IPL champions, with a six-match winning streak during their title-winning campaign.
Kolkata Knight Riders — 2012
A six-game run helped KKR build momentum in the season where they clinched their first IPL title.
Chennai Super Kings — 2014
CSK produced another strong six-match streak in 2014, a season where they finished as runners-up.
Sunrisers Hyderabad — 2018
SRH also recorded a six-match winning streak in IPL 2018. Official IPL stats confirm Sunrisers Hyderabad won six consecutive matches that season.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru — 2024
RCB’s 2024 campaign produced one of the most dramatic late-season turnarounds in IPL history. They won six league matches in a row to qualify for the playoffs.
Why KKR’s 10-Match IPL Winning Streak Is Hard to Beat
Long streaks happen in most sports leagues. So why has nobody touched KKR’s 10 in over a decade? A few reasons:
- The IPL is unpredictable by design. Auctions reset squads frequently. Conditions vary widely from venue to venue, and different IPL venue records and pitch reports show how much surfaces can influence team momentum.
- . A single bad over can flip a tight T20.
- Cross-season streaks are difficult. A team must stay strong through an off-season — auction cycles, retentions, captaincy changes, and player workload all get in the way.
- Playoff wins are heavier. League games are one thing; winning Qualifier 1 and the final against the season’s best teams is another. KKR’s streak included both.
Finally, recent IPL trends suggest tighter team parity. As covered in our IPL 2026 teams preview, squad balance and auction strategy have become major factors. In IPL 2026, Punjab Kings became the first IPL team to start a season unbeaten through six games — a different record, not the all-time winning streak — but it shows how competitive the league remains.
