Luca Shaw Moves Ahead of Loic Bruni in Latest UCI Points Rankings

After his World Cup win this past weekend in Nove Mesto, Luca Shaw moved up to the top of the current World Cup point standings.

Last night, the UCI released its latest UCI Points Rankings, which are based on all the UCI points earned over the last 52 weeks, and Luca Shaw has moved up to second place there, with Jackson Goldstone in first place and Loic Bruni now having dropped to third place.

In the Elite Men’s Cross-Country Ranking, Christopher Blevins, who won the UCI World Cup titles in both XCO and XCC racing last year, is now sitting in 18th place, 771 points behind the UCI Men’s XC points leader, Fabio Püntener, who has yet to win his first World Cup race.

Some sports observers have said in the past that the longer it takes for a person to get to become the best in their field, the longer that person tends to stay there. If that principle is true, it’s possible that long-term determination through a long period of losses might be the best predictor of long-term success.
