Ludwig Kaiser was not even in the country when he learned about the Florida warrant tied to his battery case, because newly obtained court documents reveal the WWE star was in Mexico for work before immediately returning to Orlando to deal with the situation.
According to a motion obtained by Ringside News, Kaiser — whose real name is Marcel Barthel — learned about the warrant while traveling internationally for work purposes. The filing states:
“At the time he learned of the warrant, Mr. Barthel was in Mexico for work purposes and immediately made plans to travel back to Orlando to deal with the warrant.”
The motion says Barthel returned to Orlando on May 20 before turning himself in at the Orange County Jail. He was later released after posting $1,000 bond tied to the misdemeanor battery charge. Ringside News previously obtained court records revealing Barthel surrendered after an active arrest warrant had been issued in Orange County, Florida.
The underlying case stems from an alleged incident police say took place on April 23 at the Paramount on Lake Eola Apartments in Orlando. Investigators previously stated probable cause was established after witness statements, visible injuries, surveillance footage, and a photo lineup identification.
The newly obtained filing gives a much clearer timeline of what happened before Barthel’s arrest, including the revelation that he was already outside the United States for work when he learned authorities were seeking him.
Kaiser has remained active on WWE television under the masked El Grande Americano character while the legal situation continues unfolding behind the scenes. WWE has not publicly commented on the case as of this writing. With the case continuing to move through the court system, more details surrounding the legal battle could still emerge in the coming weeks.
