Manchester United’s fine run of form continued as they beat Nottingham Forest 3-1 on Sunday.

Luke Shaw put the hosts in front early on at Old Trafford with his first goal of the season, but Forest drew level shortly after the break through Morato.

Matheus Cunha then restored United’s lead, despite a VAR check for a potential handball by Bryan Mbeumo.

The Cameroonian then added the Red Devils’ third goal and, despite Morgan Gibbs-White replying once again, Michael Carrick’s side held on to secure all three points.

United now face Brighton and Hove Albion on the final day of the season, and Carrick could be confirmed as the club’s new permanent head coach prior to their trip to the south coast.

In the meantime, though, it has been revealed that one of United’s defenders will leave the club this summer.

Manchester United confirmed on Sunday that full-back Tyrell Malacia will leave Old Trafford when his contract expires at the end of the current campaign.

Malacia, 26, joined United from Dutch side Feyenoord back in 2022 but has been plagued by injuries throughout his time in England.

The left-back suffered a knee injury in the summer of 2023 that kept him out of action for 500 days, with the Dutchman missing 70 matches for Man United during that spell on the sidelines.

Having returned to fitness late in 2024, Malacia was sent on loan to Eredivisie giants PSV Eindhoven for the second half of last term.

In total he has made 49 appearances for the Red Devils across all competitions, but he is behind Luke Shaw in the pecking order at Old Trafford and has made just two Premier League appearances so far this term.

Despite his struggles, Malacia was part of the United squad that won the Carabao Cup in 2023 under fellow countryman Erik ten Hag.
