Manchester United can take a huge step towards Champions League qualification by beating Brentford in the Premier League on Monday evening.

The Red Devils currently sit third in the top flight table and – with the Premier League set to get an additional fifth qualification spot for the Champions League this term – Michael Carrick’s side are well-placed to qualify for Europe’s top club competition.

The Bees have been in good form this season, though, and Keith Andrews’ side will likely provide a stern test for United at Old Trafford.

Ahead of that game, it has emerged that Man United are well-placed to sign a Serie A star this summer.

As reported by Italian outlet Calciomercato, via TEAMtalk, Manchester United are poised to make a move for AC Milan winger Rafael Leao this summer.

The Portugal international is said to have a release clause set at more than £130 million in his current contract, which is set to expire in 2028.

Leao, 26, has scored 80 goals and registered 65 assists in 268 games for Milan since joining from French outfit Lille in 2019, building a reputation as one of the best attackers in Europe.

The Portugal international is under contract until the end of the 2027/28 campaign, but the report from Italy claims that the winger could be available for as little as £43 million during the upcoming summer transfer window.

It is claimed that the Red Devils sent scouts to watch Leao in action for Milan against Juventus on Sunday, with the game ending in a goalless draw.

The report suggests that a fee in the region of £45 million, plus Leao’s current wages of approximately £6.06 million annually, are both easily affordable for United.

Leao primarily plays as a striker but is also capable of operating on the left flank.
