Manchester United are likely to be active in the transfer market this summer, with Michael Carrick having been appointed as head coach on a permanent basis.
The Englishman was appointed as the Red Devils’ caretaker boss in January following the sacking of Ruben Amorim, and guided the club to a third-placed finish in the Premier League.
Despite a disastrous first-half of the campaign under Amorim, United have qualified for next term’s Champions League.
Carrick will likely want to finetune his squad this summer, though, and with that in mind an update has emerged on the future of a forgotten Manchester United player.
As per journalist Fabrizio Romano, goalkeeper Andre Onana is set to return from a loan spell in Turkey and join up with Carrick’s squad for pre-season.
The Cameroon international was sent on loan to Super Lig side Trabzonspor in September last year, having fallen out of favour at Old Trafford after a poor run of form.

Onana had initially joined United from Italian outlet Inter Milan in 2023 but had struggled to recreate his best form after arriving in England.
The ‘keeper has conceded 150 goals in 102 games for United across all competitions – keeping just 24 clean sheets for the club – and departed for Turkey following the arrival of Senne Lammens at Old Trafford.
Since moving to Turkey, the Cameroonian has conceded 40 times in 33 games, with six shutouts.
Romano claims that the Turkish giants are keen to keep hold of the 30-year-old and would like to agree a new loan deal for the 2026/27 season.
Despite this, the report claims that Onana is set to return to Manchester and join up with Carrick’s squad, where he will seemingly compete with Lammens and Altay Bayindir for a starting spot in the Englishman’s side.
