Marwan Rahiki made a statement at UFC Perth delivering a highlight-reel knockout victory over Ollie Schmid.
Rahiki came into the bout undefeated and off a successful UFC debut victory in March after earning a UFC contract on Contender Series last October. The Moroccan featherweight, now living and training in Sydney, scored a second-straight (third if you could DWCS) in the UFC when he took Schmid out in Perth.
Round 1 – Schmid came out aggressively, looking to establish his game with kicks early. Rahiki answered right back, prompting Schmid to surge forward with a flurry.
Unwilling to give ground, Rahiki fired off flashy spinning attacks in search of a knockout. Schmid circled away, staying on his bike to avoid the danger. Rahiki eventually backed him to the fence, cutting off escape routes and forcing the UFC newcomer to fight his way out.
Rahiki remained composed, reading Schmid’s offense and countering with sharp combinations. Schmid pressed forward with straight shots and briefly found success, but Rahiki responded in a big way—landing a crushing left hand that dropped the newcomer and brought the fight to an immediate end.
Rahiki stays undefeated and secures a finish bonus with the emphatic victory at UFC Perth.
