Matt Hardy has revealed that he and Jeff Hardy both gave extensive interviews for the upcoming Dark Side of the Ring episode focusing on Jeff Jarrett and TNA, and believes it will be the most star-studded episode in the show’s history.
Speaking on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy shortly after the announcement was made, Hardy disclosed that the project had been in discussion for some time.
“In speaking with Jeff Jarrett, I had a great conversation with him a couple of months ago, and he told me they were talking about doing this. They’re doing a Dark Side of the Ring, which is kind of a redemption story, which is very cool, and we were sold on it. While we were out in Vegas, Jeff and I both did very long form interviews talking about everything from the very beginning when we first met Jeff Jarrett, to him and Owen (Hart) asking if they could put the tag team titles on us back in the day, to everything Jeff Jarrett’s been through, losing his friend Owen, losing his first wife, how his life has been, even up to that with TNA, whenever we left, whenever we returned to WrestleMania, the whole to do. It felt great to be a part of something that did feel like a redemption story, because not only did we talk about how Jeff Jarrett came out the other end in a much better place and how he’s gained everyone’s respect from what he has done, we talked about the condition of TNA right now, how it is in a good place, and it is actually thriving on AMC,” Hardy said.
He also hinted at the scale of the production based on what he learned during the interview process.
“I think it is going to be the biggest star power Dark Side of the Ring they’ve ever had, because they interviewed almost everybody for this. It’s crazy when I heard the list. And I think the ultimate episode is going to be three hours long. They’re going to split it up into a couple of different episodes,” Hardy said.
Dark Side of the Ring season seven premieres on Vice TV on July 7, with the three-part TNA and Jarrett episode kicking off the season.
