Ghanaian centre-back Maxwell Woledzi netted his first MLS goal to secure victory for Nashville SC against New York City FC and keep them top of the Eastern Conference ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup break.
The towering defender rose high to head home the winner moments after the break at GEODIS Park, celebrating wildly in front of the jubilant home fans.
Nashville had opened the scoring early in the match through Jeison Palacios but Nicolas Fernandez levelled from the spot six minutes later.
The Right to Dream Academy graduate was named Man of the Match after the game.
Woledzi, who joined Nashville from Fredrikstad in February, has been a key figure at Nashville in the ongoing MLS season, making 13 appearances in the league.
The victory keeps Nashville five points ahead of second-place Inter Miami ahead as the MLS breaks for the World Cup in Canada, USA and Mexico.
