The domestic lacrosse season, having gotten through Memorial Day, now heads into the final stretches in many areas before concluding in less than one month.
As such, eight out of our Top 10 have already finished their seasons, with only Darien (Conn.) and Sayville (N.Y.) in play, but as favorites for their respective state championships. But while Sayville has to face its top Class C adversaries but once, Darien is going to have to meet its top Fairfield County rivals in not only the FCIAC bracket, but in the CIAC Class LL title bracket. We’ll see where the road takes the Blue Wave.
1. Lutherville Maryvale Prep (Md.) 19-0
Season complete: Won the IAAM Class A final with a 10-5 win over Owings Mills McDonogh (Md.)
2. Manchester (Md.) Valley 19-0
Season complete: After a day’s rain delay, the Mustangs defeated Ellicott City Centennial (Md.) 14-5 to win the MPSSAA Class 2A final
3. Darien (Conn.) 16-0
Darien, after two consecutive wins against Fairfield Warde (Conn.), face Greenwich (Conn.) in the semfinals of the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Council tournament; either New Canaan or Wilton await in the other half of the bracket
4. South Huntington St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) 17-1
Season complete: The Friars won the NSCHSGAA title with a 13-4 win over Uniondale Kellenberg Memorial (N.Y.)
5. Philadelphia Penn Charter (Pa.) 23-2
Season complete: The Quakers outlasted Newtown Square Episcopal Academy (Pa.) in the final of the PAISAA Tournament
6. Sayville (N.Y.) 16-0
The Golden Flash take on Islip tomorrow in the semifinal of the New York Section 11 Class C Tournament; either Shoreham-Wading River or Harborfields awaits in Sunday’s final
7. Owings Mills McDonogh (Md.) 13-4
Season complete: The Eagles threw a third-quarter scare into Maryvale Prep before falling short in the final term of the IAAM Class A final
8. Olney Good Counsel (Md.) 17-2
Season complete: The Falcons defeated Chantilly Paul VI (Va.) 13-3 to win the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference title
9. Newtown Square Episcopal Academy (Pa.) 16-6
Season complete: The Churchwomen, after a 12-9 win over Villanova Academy of Notre Dame de Namur (Pa.), dropped a 7-4 decision to Penn Charter in the finals of the PAISAA Tournament
10. Cumming West Forsyth (Ga.) 22-0
Season complete: Wolverines defeated Suwanee Lambert (Ga.) 10-8 in the GHSA Division 3 final
