Mercedes Moné Returns After Ultimo Moné’s Fall and Absence » TWNP-Wrestling News

The past 365 days saw the best of times and worst of times for Mercedes Mercedes Moné. Last year, the 6-time WWE Women’s Champion traveled across the globe to collect belts. Along the way, Mercedes Moné amassed 13 titles, went public with dating The Beast Mortos, and even collaborated with Crunchyroll. However, that all came crashing down on AEW New Year’s Smash, when Ultimo Moné lost the TBS Title to Willow Nighingale. After a six-month hiatus, Mercedes Moné returns, and she’s looking for revenge. Let’s take a look at the rise, fall, and return of the CEO of the AEW.

Where Has Mercedes Moné Been?

After taking the wrestling world by storm in 2025, Mercedes Moné took a much-deserved break. The former Sasha Banks has been dealing with lingering neck and back issues since her WWE days. AEW allowed the top female Superstar to take a break to heal up and get stem cell treatments.

Mercedes Moné announced her hiatus on Collision in January 2026. The Mandalorian star took some time to rehab. However, she also dipped her toes back into the wrestling waters before making her surprise return on AEW Dynamite last night. Ultimo Moné finished her side quests with a string of losses in other promotions. Now, the beltless Mercedes Moné has her sights set on revenge with her AEW return.

Mercedes Moné Returns to AEW as Wildcard In Owen Hart Cup Tournament

It’s that time of year again. While WWE is gearing up for King and Queen of the Ring, AEW is holding its annual Owen Hart Cup Tournament. One of the brackets pitted Alex Windsor against a Wildcard. The Richmond, Virginia crowd came unglued as the former TBS Champion Mercedes Moné answered the call.

Before The CEO took a break from AEW, she recorded a message for the fans. She said that, while leaving beltless, Mercedes Moné is coming back for more than just Championships. It seems the former Sasha Banks might be doing this Kill Bill-style, targeting a ghost of Ultimo Moné’s past.

Alex Windsor was one of Mercedes Moné’s final opponents before her AEW break. The wife of Will Ospreay defeated The Belt Collector to win the RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Championship on AEW Collision: Holiday Bash.

Revenge was sweet for Mercedes Moné. The returning legend defeated Alex Windsor to advance in the Owen Hart Cup Tournament. Now, Mercedes Moné is looking to become a 2-time Owen Hart Cup winner. She might have a chance to avenge another loss as the former Ultimo Moné moves into the semifinals. If Persephone can get past Hazuki in the quarterfinals, then Mercedes Moné may be able to avenge her CMLL Title loss.

The Ultimo Moné Run

After Mercedes Moné went on the greatest run of her life, she also fell into one of her most significant losing streaks. The global sensation won Titles everywhere from Scotland to Mexico to Italy.

It’s safe to say that her run could potentially last a long time. It took almost 20 years for Ultimo Moné to take the torch of Belt Collector from Ultimo Dragon. The star recently returned to AEW, but not before doing the honors across the world during her Moné Madness Tour.
