Mick Foley Gets Physical During AEW Debut » TWNP-Wrestling News

Mrs. Foley’s Baby Boy is officially All Elite. Tony Khan’s wrestling promotion held its annual Double or Nothing event in Queens, New York. During the Buy In Pre-Show, Renee Paquette welcomed Mick Foley to AEW. The WWE Hall of Famer returned to Long Island to hype the PPV event. However, the Hardcore Legend was confronted by Long Island’s own Maxwell Jacob Friedman. In fact, Mick Foley gets physical with MJF during his AEW debut!

Mick Foley Joins AEW After Quitting WWE

As we first reported here, Mick Foley allowed his WWE contract to expire this month. This decision was largely in part due to WWE’s growing affiliation with President Trump’s initiatives.

At first, it was believed that he would be free to join AEW in June. However, Mick Foley made his AEW debut on May 24, 2026.

The 3-time WWE World Champion kicked off the Buy In for Double or Nothing with a passionate promo to his hometown crowd. Mick Foley’s presence prompted the arrival of MJF.

Mick Foley Gets Physical with MJF

The Devil dressed down The Hardcore Legend, calling him a loser like Darby Allin. This disrespect lit a fire in the Master of Mr. Socko. Mick told MJF that he had wavy hair, and later, at Double or Nothing, his hair was waving goodbye to him.

It’s highly reported that MJF has Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria, a symptom of severe ADHD. So, upon this hurtful comment, the brash MJF leveled Mick Foley with a kick to the groin.

Mick Foley bent over O-mouthed, shocked by MJF’s attack. Before the Double or Nothing Main Eventer could further his assault, the AEW World Champion came to Mick Foley’s aid.

Darby Allin ran MJF out of the arena, with the two set to settle things later that night. However, before Double or Nothing went to air, Mick Foley hyped up Darby Allin. Sting’s former rival told Sting’s last teammate that Darby Allin needed to “win for the weirdos.”

MJF Defeats Darby Allin for the AEW World Title

Darby Allin gave it his all, but the daredevil came up short for the weirdos. The two men had a hard-hitting performance, creating many moments where fans worried for Darby Allin’s health.

From a Package Piledriver on the steel steps to a Coffin Drop for a scaffold, the New York crowd was invested in the action. While there was plenty of weapons use and action outside of the ring, the story was all about the Side Headlock Takeover.

Both men have scored wins over the other with the simple maneuver. With the World Title and MJF’s hair on the line, each man tried to embarrass the other by securing the victory with a Side Headlock takeover.

A desperate Darby Allin started to channel his inner Sting. First, he locked the Challenger into a Scorpion Deathlock. However, MJF powered out of Sting’s submission, causing Darby Allin to collapse from exhaustion.

MJF thought he had the Champion where he wanted him. The cocky star went to put the pain on Darby Allin, but the possum-playing daredevil took MJF down with a Scorpion Death Drop.

Tired, Darby climbed to the top rope. His delay allowed MJF time to hit the ropes, causing the Champ to lose balance. The Challenger climbed the ropes to project his own attack, as MJF put Darby Allin down with an Avalanche Tombstone.

From there, MJF picked up the lifeless body of Darby Allin, finishing him off with a Side Headlock Takeover. In just over a month, Darby Allin’s AEW Title reign comes to an end as MJF secures his third Triple B.

What’s Next for Mick Foley in AEW?

It’s not every day that Mick Foley gets physical. The WWE legend retired for good after a brief appearance in the 2012 Royal Rumble. This match saw the legendary clash between Mr. Socko and The Cobra, opening the door for future iconic showdowns, like La Yesca vs. The Cobra!

Mick Foley has suffered many broken bones and concussions over his career. However, people are always clamoring for one last match from the former Cactus Jack.

Even Tony Khan is open to Mick Foley wrestling. During a Double or Nothing media call, the AEW Owner noted that the ball is in Mrs. Foley’s Baby Boy’s court.

Tony Khan told the wrestling media:

“I can’t speak for Mick Foley as to whether he’d want to wrestle or if he’s going to wrestle anytime soon, but if he ever does, I would love for him to do it in AEW. But I also don’t want to put him in a situation in which he’ll be uncomfortable.

I want him to feel good about this, and I know he’s taken so many big hits and had such an amazing career with so many spectacular moments, and physically, I would only ever ask him to wrestle if he felt up to it and that he could live up to the physical demand.”

It certainly seems like Mick Foley isn’t afraid of some physicality. Perhaps, he can mentor Darby Allin if Sting’s former mentee runs it back with MJF.

In the meantime, it looks like MJF will be onto new horizons. It’s heavily rumored that MJF will defend the AEW World Title against Will Ospreay at All In in London, England. All In will take place on August 30th, so there is plenty of time to build up to this big clash.
