Mick Foley is expected to be around AEW regularly, but fans should not expect him on this week’s Dynamite in Philadelphia.
During a PWInsider Q&A, Mike Johnson was asked whether Foley would become a weekly presence in AEW after his Double or Nothing pre-show appearance. Johnson said Foley will be around regularly, but confirmed he will not be at Dynamite this week in Philadelphia because of a prior commitment.
“We are told he will be around regularly. I am told he won’t be in Philly this week as he has a pre-existing responsibility that was locked in before he signed but the impression I have been given is that he’ll be a regular part of AEW programming.”
This comes after Foley made his AEW debut during the Double or Nothing kickoff show at Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens, New York. Foley appeared alongside Renee Paquette to preview the card, but his appearance quickly became part of the show when he got involved with MJF.
While discussing MJF’s AEW World Championship vs. Hair Match against Darby Allin, Foley predicted that MJF would lose and told him that since he had wavy hair, he should prepare to “wave it goodbye.” MJF responded by kicking Foley below the belt before Darby came out to chase him away.
After that, Sean Ross Sapp revealed during a Fightful Select Q&A that Foley is officially signed to AEW and expected to be used on pay-per-views and some television moving forward.
“Yes, he is signed to the company officially. He is, he is on the roster. They expect him to work all the pay-per-view shows moving forward and some TV for the foreseeable future. So there is a working agreement between the two sides. John Alba did a great job reporting on this and AEW has held an interest for quite a while. So when he was able to sign, they made it happen.”
Foley’s first AEW appearance made it clear the company has plans for him beyond a simple guest spot. While he won’t be in Philadelphia this week, the latest report suggests fans should still expect to see plenty more of Mrs. Foley’s Baby Boy in AEW going forward.
