There are a couple of questions surrounding the New England Patriots this offseason. One of the biggest ones on fans’ minds is about a potential move they’re rumored to make this offseason: trading for AJ Brown. It’s been rumored since the start of the offseason that New England is looking to acquire the veteran wide receiver following his falling out with the Philadelphia Eagles.
One of Brown’s former teammates, Milton Williams, is currently with the Patriots. Williams, naturally, was asked about the Brown situation and if he’s recruiting his former teammate. The star defensive tackle said that he wasn’t being paid to do that, but he gave a glowing review of the Eagles wide receiver.
“Definitely. You see the noise. Shoot, helluva player,” Williams said when asked about if he’s campaigning for the Patriots to trade for Brown. “He can definitely help our team. But they don’t pay me to do that.”
“Great dude. Monster on the field. Great in the locker room,” the Patriots DT added when asked about what kind of teammate Brown is. “Holding guys accountable. Holding himself accountable. Feel like everything you want in a player of his caliber.”
The prevailing rumor around the league is that the Patriots will be trading for Brown after June 1 due to the cap implications. There are reports recently that a deal between the Eagles and Pats for Brown is already complete, but Mike Vrabel refused to answer any questions about that rumor.
“We want to continue to improve the roster in every opportunity that we can,” Vrabel said, per ESPN’s Mike Reiss. “When those opportunities arise, I don’t know. I know that the guys that we have here are working extremely hard. I would say that yesterday’s first OTA was much better than last year’s.”
