Key Insights & Record Analysis

Kumar Sangakkara has taken the most catches as a wicketkeeper in an IPL innings. He held on to five catches for Deccan Chargers against RCB in 2011.

Morne van Wyk was the first wicketkeeper to take four catches in an IPL innings, having done so for KKR against RCB in 2009.

MS Dhoni is the only wicketkeeper to grab three or more catches each in 10 innings in the IPL. He also tops the overall catches record as a WK in IPL.

Dhoni and Dinesh Karthik have taken three or more catches against a single opponent each. Dhoni has done so against Punjab Kings, while Karthik has done so against Rajasthan Royals (RR).

Sanju Samson is the youngest wicketkeeper to take three or more catches in an IPL innings. He was 18 years and 154 days old when he pocketed three catches for RR against Punjab in a 2013 game.

Adam Gilchrist, on the other hand, is the oldest keeper to pick up three-plus catches in an IPL innings. He held on to four catches for Punjab against CSK at the age of 40 years and 185 days in 2012. He is also the first captain to score a century for Punjab Kings.

Jitesh Sharma is the only wicketkeeper to take three or more catches each in three innings in an IPL season.

Dhoni and Naman Ojha are the two wicketkeepers to take three or more catches in consecutive IPL innings. Dhoni achieved the feat in 2012, taking three catches each against Punjab and MI. Ojha imitated the record in 2016, taking four catches against MI and three catches against Pune Supergiants for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Parthiv Patel, Dhoni, Karthik, AB de Villiers, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Jitesh are the six wicketkeepers to grab three catches each in an innings in the IPL playoffs.

Gurbaz is the lone wicketkeeper to take three catches in the IPL final, having done so for KKR against SRH in 2024.
