Musetti vs. Landaluce, Fils vs. Atmane

No. 2 seed Lorenzo Musetti will try to right the ship in Barcelona against Martin Landaluce, while Arthur Fils takes on Terence Atmane in an all-French encounter. Musetti has not won a match since the Aussie Open.

(2) Lorenzo Musetti vs. (WC) Martin Landaluce

You might recognize the name Martin Landaluce from his wild Cinderella run through qualiies to the quarterfinals of the Miami Masters. He is just sitting on the edge of cracking the top 100, but he is playing much better tennis than his ranking suggests right now -0 and that means danger for Lorenzo Musetti.

Unlike Landaluce, who is cooking with oil at the moment, Musetti is frying exactly nothing. You might even say he hasn’t even made it into the kitchen in recent months. The Italian, who is still ranked No. 9 in the world, has lost two matches in a row. Last week Landaluce made the semis at the Monza Challenger, so fatigue may start to be a factor. Nonetheless, I’m giving the Spaniard the edge.

(9) Arthur Fils vs. Terence Atmane

It will be the first meeting between Arthur Fils and Terence Atmane in this all-French affair. Fils will make his 2026 clay debut on Tuesday, having skipped Monte-Carlo in preparation for the rest of the European clay swing. The world No. 30 is a good clay-courter; two of his three career titles have come on the dirt.

Atmane is just making his way up the ATP rankings; he advanced to the round of 16 in Miami and won a match against American Ethan Quinn last week in Monte-Carlo. This one doesn’t have the makings of an upset; look for Fils to advance in rather comfortable fashion.
