Musk Holds Her Ground at Battle Ground

Meghan Musk never gave up her place at the top of the leaderboard.

The Assistant Professional at Fort Wayne Country Club led all three days of the 2026 PGA Women’s Open at Battle Ground Golf Club, closing out a wire-to-wire victory on Friday, June 26. Musk finished the championship at 1-under-par with rounds of 68, 71 and 76 for a three-day total of 215.

The championship began with two beautiful days in Battle Ground, giving the field ideal scoring conditions on Wednesday and Thursday. Friday brought a different challenge, as final-round tee times were moved up an hour in an effort to avoid incoming weather. While rain threatened throughout the morning, only a few sprinkles passed through, and play was completed without delay.

Musk entered the final round with the lead and remained in control for much of the day, even as the leaderboard behind her continued to shift. Her position at the top never changed, but the final stretch brought plenty of pressure as the field tried to close the gap and Musk worked to finish off the win.

“I was looking at the radar all morning before we teed off, and it looked like it was starting to split up,” Musk said. “I thought, we might get this in. Plus, I had everything packed and had all the rain gear, so if you pack it, you’re not going to need it.”

While Musk appeared steady from the outside, she said the final round brought plenty of nerves as she worked to stay composed in a position she had not been in for quite some time. A birdie on No. 11 helped steady the round, but the closing holes still tested her patience and confidence.

“I think it’s probably been 10 years since I’ve been in this kind of position. I was just trying to settle myself down all day and tell myself, be confident, make good swings, and you know how to make good putts like you have been all week. That birdie on 11 was nice. I would have liked a few more to drop today, but that’s golf, and in the end, I got the trophy.”

Musk said she was not closely watching the leaderboard during the round, choosing instead to focus on the players in her group and the shots in front of her. As the championship tightened late, she still did not know exactly where she stood.

“I’m not a leaderboard watcher and never have been,” Musk said. “I kind of knew where I was with the girls in my group, but what was happening on the golf course, I had no idea.”

This win was important to her, “Coming into the Indiana Section last year, being able to come out and get a win like this boosts my confidence, especially with the Assistant Championship and the Section Championship in August. I’m hoping to qualify for those this year, so a lot of confidence from this going into August.”

After three days at Battle Ground Golf Club, Musk’s consistency proved to be the difference. The leaderboard changed often behind her, but the top spot never did, as she turned a strong opening round into a wire-to-wire victory at the 2026 PGA Women’s Open.
