McTominay took just three minutes to open the scoring after a fast start from the Partenopei. De Bruyne found the former Manchester United man with a delightful pass, with McTominay driving a low effort into the far corner from outside the box; goalkeeper Emil Audero stood no chance.
Speaking to DAZN after the game, via TuttoMercatoWeb, McTominay started by confirming his preferred position – after being used in a variety of different roles since his arrival in Naples nearly two years ago.
‘My position is up there in midfield, I’m happy to have had so many scoring chances.’
The Scot took seven shot attempts tonight, including a penalty that was saved by Audero.

Napoli MOTM De Bruyne: ‘I hope to play at this level again’
De Bruyne, named as Football Italia and Serie A’s Man of the Match, put in a performance that echoed some of his finest displays across his storied career.
Whilst he hasn’t shown his full potential since his arrival in Italy, tonight, Napoli fans will hope, is a sign of what he still has left to give.
Speaking to DAZN after the match, again via TMW, De Bruyne confessed that ‘last week’s performance’, where Conte’s side lost 2-0 at home to Lazio, ‘was not up to par.’
‘We always go out there to win,’ he continued, ‘and scoring early today helped us.’
He concluded by admitting the team ‘are very satisfied with our win,’ and hopes ‘to play at this level again and celebrate more.’
Two players who once took to the pitch on opposing sides of the fierce rivalry in Manchester, the two are finding their synchronicity on the pitch and will want to keep the momentum through the end of this season and into the next.
