Robin McCluskey has established himself as the most accomplished crew chief in the NASCAR Canada Series, holding the record with five championship titles.
His championships came in 2018 and 2021 alongside Louis-Philippe Dumoulin, and in 2022, 2024 and 2025 with Marc-Antoine Camirand.
A Progressive Path Through the Sport
McCluskey’s career began behind-the-wheel. Introduced to racing at a young age through his father, he pursued driving through karting and later stock cars in British Columbia. He even won a local championship before transitioning toward the technical side of the sport.
Seeking broader opportunities, McCluskey relocated to Ontario and joined a racing team, where he developed his expertise in car building and race preparation. That experience became foundational in his transition to a crew chief role.
A Team-Oriented Approach
Rather than adopting a hierarchical leadership style, McCluskey emphasizes collaboration within the team environment.
“We just work as a team. It’s about having the right people in the right situation,” he said.
This approach has proven effective across multiple championship-winning programs, where consistency and communication are critical over a full season.
One distinctive element of McCluskey’s operation is his continued involvement in chassis construction. That level of technical control allows for a tailored approach to setup and performance across both oval and road course events.
Success and Performance
McCluskey’s success has often come quickly when entering new programs. In 2018, his first race working with Dumoulin resulted in a victory. Similarly, his first season with Camirand culminated in a championship.
“When I started with that team, we were hoping for consistent top-five finishes. Winning the championship right away wasn’t something we expected,” he noted.
With five championships secured, McCluskey maintains a measured outlook on future goals. While additional titles remain a possibility, his focus remains on preparation and execution at each event.
“We go to every race and try to do our best,” he said.
McCluskey highlights the importance of working with drivers performing across both ovals and road courses.
“You need someone who can compete on both. That’s key to winning a championship,” he explained.
His partnerships with drivers such as Dumoulin and Camirand reflect that balance, combining technical preparation with driver adaptability.

The 2026 NASCAR Canada Series season starts May 17 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
