Neeraj Chopra Celebrates Silver Medal with Eiffel Tower Backdrop

In the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024, India is showcasing excellence. The national already bagged six medals. India bagged its only silver medal after Neeraj Chopra secured second position in the Javelin final. The athlete ended up securing the second position in the final game after having an exciting tournament. After the win, he posed with his silver medal keeping the iconic Eiffel Tower behind. That picture has gone viral.

In recent times, Neeraj Chopra has become India’s golden boy. After his Tokiyo Olympics success, the javelin thrower made India proud in several tournaments. The trend has not broken even in the ongoing Paris Olympics. After an excellent performance, he entered into the final match and secured the silver medal for India. After winning the medal, he has posed with the medal in front of the iconic Eiffel Tower. After posting the picture on social media, it has gone viral. 

In the Javelin final, Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan stole the show with an exceptional throw of 92.97 meters. He shattered the Olympic record and surpassed the 90-meter mark twice. His dominant performance made him a clear winner of the event.

Neeraj Chopra faced difficulties during the final. After a poor start with a foul on his first attempt, he only had one valid throw, which was his best. Despite fouling all five remaining attempts, Neeraj had the top throw in the qualification round with 89.34 meters. His silver medal is a historic achievement, marking India’s first non-bronze medal at these Games.

The Athlete is Not Happy with the Performance:

Tokyo 2020 champion Neeraj Chopra, despite recording the second-best throw of his career, had to accept a silver medal in the men’s javelin throw. He expressed disappointment with his performance, feeling that he fell short of his expectations.

He said, “It was a good throw but I’m not that happy with my performance today,” Neeraj expressed his disappointment after the event. “My technique and runway was not that good. (I managed) only one throw, the rest I fouled.”

While talking about future preparation, Neeraj Chopra said, “In training, I’m not doing a lot of throws because of my groin (injury). But I will work hard in future.”
