The April 27 episode of WWE RAW went down at the Sames Auto Arena in Laredo, Texas. Through it all, we saw a big Backlash match booked while we were at it.
Asuka got involved in IYO Sky’s match against Becky Lynch this week. That caused fans to chant that they wanted Kairi Sane as well.
It didn’t take long for it to become clear that things aren’t finished between Asuka and IYO Sky. That is when WWE made it official that the Genius of the Skies and the Empress of Tomorrow will throw down at the company’s next premium live event.
After WWE made the match official, Asuka cut a backstage promo on IYO Sky. It is very clear that the history behind their feud will only bring more out for both of them.
Asuka versus IYO Sky will go down, in a match that is promised to end their long-running feud. Only time will tell how it all goes down, but this could be a very interesting storyline for everyone involved.
WWE Backlash is set for Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the Benchmark International Arena in Tampa, Florida. It’s shaping up to be a big show coming off WrestleMania, so there’s going to be a lot to unpack once it’s all over.
