Newcastle open talks to sign £43m star who “plays like Raphinha & Dembele”

Newcastle United have now opened talks to sign South American sensation Eduardo Conceicao, as they attempt to hijack Barcelona’s shock pursuit.

Newcastle open talks to sign Conceicao

After such a disappointing 12 months on and off the pitch, the Magpies are out to make a statement this summer. New sporting director Ross Wilson will be desperate to do better than his predecessors and will be well aware how important it is to finally get the recruitment right at St James’ Park.

It’s not just the current side that Wilson has the task of improving either. He’s also got the job of welcoming future stars who are capable of taking Newcastle back into the Champions League and more.

It’s why there’s already been a mix of reported targets. Experienced stars like Conor Gallagher are already on Newcastle’s radar, but he’s also joined by young South American Conceicao.

According to TeamTalk, Newcastle have already opened talks to sign Conceicao from Palmeiras, as they attempt to jump ahead of leading contenders Barcelona in pursuit of the teenage talent.

At 16 years old, the attacking midfielder won’t be making an official move until 2028 when he turns 18, but that won’t stop clubs from agreeing a deal in advance.

He’s a wanted man…

It’s something that Chelsea did to sign Estevao Willian from Palmeiras and now Newcastle could do similar in pursuit of Conceicao. Whether the teenager chooses the Premier League and follows Estevao remains to be seen, however.

Reports in Brazil suggest that he could be allowed to leave for around £43m.

“Superb” Conceicao is a future star

Newcastle have been slow to join the South American conversation in the Premier League, but the recent recruitment of Johan Martinez, combined with their pursuit of Conceicao, shows all the signs of intent from the Magpies.

Dubbed “superb” by talent scout Jacek Kulig last month, Conceicao is already stealing the headlines in Brazil.

At youth level this season, the teenage star has scored five goals and created another three in just 13 appearances. Whilst first-team appearances haven’t been sent his way just yet, Conceicao is showing all the signs that he’s about to follow the Estevao path out of Palmeiras with Mail journalist George Bond suggesting he “plays like Raphinha and [Ousmane] Dembele.”

Newcastle and Eddie Howe’s malaise deepened as they were beaten by Bournemouth in the Premier League.

Newcastle could certainly do with a spark, too. Their frontline hasn’t been the same since the departure of Alexander Isak, but there aren’t many better ways to reignite some creativity than with the introduction of an exciting young Brazilian.

The chase is on for Conceicao, with clubs in the Premier League and across Europe all vying for his signature.
