Newcastle United in talks to sign Lamine Camara according to French media

It has now been reported in France that Newcastle United are trying to sign Lamine Camara.

The 22-year-old midfielder currently with Monaco.

Lamine Camara was signed from Metz for £13m at the age of 20 back in 2024.

The midfielder has started 72 Ligue 1 matches in his career, scoring four goals and getting 15 assists.

Now over in France, Foot Mercato report that Newcastle United have held talks with the Senegal international about a potential move this summer.

The claim that Newcastle United have been interested for some time in Lamine Carara but they are not alone, with Liverpool said to be amongst the other clubs tracking the young midfielder.

The 22-year-old will be with Senegal at the 2026 World Cup finals, where they are in a group with France, Iraq and Norway. Plenty of players and clubs will want to get transfers agreed before the World Cup kicks off.

Lamine Camara has drawn comparisons with the likes of N’Golo Kanté and Sergio Busquets, a versatile box to box player and all round midfielder.

Foot Mercato say that their information is that Monaco are wanting €50m (approx £43m) for the midfielder and that Newcastle United have held talks with Lamine Camara’s representatives.

Foot Mercato claim that Newcastle United are also interested in Kevin Danois, the winger/attacking midfielder turns 22 in June and currently plays for Auxerre.

Claims/reports of Newcastle United interest in players will only increase as we head towards the upcoming transfer window.
