The Mug NHL: Elliotte Friedman on Philadelphia Flyers pending RFA forward Trevor Zegras: “I’ll expect to really get going on Zegras in near term here.”
Friedman added that they’d like to get a contract extension done with RFA defenseman Jamie Drysdale.

Re-signing RFA forward Trevor Zegras should be their first priority. There was a good fit, but it likely won’t be come cheap. Defenseman Jamie Drsydale is another RFA they’ll want to re-sign. Backup goaltender Samuel Ersson is also an RFA, but is not as big of a priority as the other two.
GM Daniel Briere will have some salary cap space to work with. They could look at another goaltender to pair with Dan Vladar if they want to move on from Ersson.
The Flyers had the worst regular season power play at just 15.7%.
Things didn’t go great for Tyler Myers and Michael Bunting in Dallas, and both may not be back
Lia Assimakopoulos: The Dallas Stars trade deadline acquisitions of defenseman Tyler Myers and forward Michael Bunting didn’t go as they had hoped. They gave up a 2nd and 4th for Myers with salary retained, and a 3rd for Bunting. Both were scratched at time in the first-round and made some costly mistakes on the ice. Both were coming off groin injuries.
Myers has a year left on his contract at a $1.5 million cap hit. GM Jim Nill could look to move him. He has a 12-team no-trade list.
Bunting is a pending UFA, and there isn’t room to bring him back even if they wanted to. He’s coming off a $4.5 million deal.
Pittsburgh Penguins Rumors – Cap Space, Evgeni Malkin, and Sidney Crosby
“I’m just going to take some time here, enjoy some time with family and then reset and see what the future holds,” Bunting said last week. “I loved it here. Dallas is a great place to play. And this team obviously has a bright future. It’s a weird thing when you know you have a contract expiring, and you don’t know what’s in store.”
