We might find out Mats Sundin’s role with the Toronto Maple Leafs soon
Sportsnet: Elliotte Friedman said we could find out soon what role Mats Sundin could get with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
“I have wondered if he’s been contemplating a larger role than has been hinted or reported, and I still believe that’s true and I think everyone’s hoping to get an idea this week of where he’s leaning and what he’s considering.”
…
“Once we know where Sundin falls on this, we’ll have a truer, clearer picture of what the Maple Leafs front office is going to look like.”
NHL Rumors: Rangers, Maple Leafs, Canucks, and Blackhawks
Friedman reported on Friday that former Arizona Coyotes GM John Chayka and Dallas Stars assistant GM Scott White are the main candidates for the Head of Hockey Operations/GM position.
Will the Nashville Predators throw a curveball into their GM search?
Sportsnet: Friedman said on his 32 Thoughts: The Podcast, that the Nashville Predators are being mysterious and they could throw a curveball.
“I have a sneaking suspicion that there’s a potential curveball there, that they’ve been either considering or talking to or looking at someone we haven’t seen yet.”
The Detroit Red Wings will look to change their bottom-six with more production and definition
Max Bultman of The Athletic: Detroit Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman said they need to change some things, and get more talent. They need to score more, up and down their lineup, and maybe a little more definition with their lines.
“So, I’d like to see us — in our bottom six, we need some production as well, and also to have some definition. Maybe a true checking line or shutdown line, and then depending on what you have in your top nine, you build your fourth line a little bit around that. If you don’t have enough production, then you’ve got to get some production on that fourth line. If you’re not big enough and hard enough or whatnot, then you need that. And truthfully, we need a little bit of all of that.”
The Rumors and Noise Will Only Get Louder Around Brady Tkachuk
Yzerman said he hopes his team are watching the playoffs and seeing the intensity and determination needed to be in the playoffs as well as getting there, and adds, “But ultimately it’s incumbent upon me and my staff to improve the team.”
