Nike Unwraps The KD 19 “Butter Candy”

Pevin Purant, er, Kevin Durant is staying in the headlines even in the NBA offseason. The perennial All-Star gave fans a taste of his Nike KD 19 during the Rockets’ truncated postseason run, but they’ve had to wait until the season concluded to test out his futuristic sig shoe for themselves.

As alluded to in that opening, the Swoosh has made the most of that gap between on-court debut and market open, enlisting fellow endorsee Aubrey Graham as the unofficial mascot for KD’s 19th effort. In a string of social media spots, Drake has played the foil to the Slim Reaper’s straight man, utilizing his on-screen comedy chops and a heavy dose of Toronno accent work to hype up the flood of concepts incoming.

And keep on coming, they will. Having already chalked off the “Purple Stuff,” “Candy Apple,” “Orange Crush,” and staring down the “Bubble Gum Bounce,” now a “Wheat”-adjacent concept brings some against-type tonality to the glossy, metallic silhouette. Here we have the Nike KD 19 “Butter Candy,” which, although it doesn’t move the needle all that much in terms of color blocking (it’s as monochromatic as its previously revealed peers), does demonstrate that the model is just as at home in less hi-vis outfits.

The Nike KD 19 “Butter Candy” doesn’t have a concrete release date at the time of this writing, instead expected for this Fall/Winter. A $155 sticker price is likely.
