Northwave is reinforcing its presence in the UK through a renewed market approach designed to expand local reach and support the brand’s long-term growth ambitions in one of Europe’s most established cycling markets.
The brand has re-entered the UK market with a direct-to-retail model, supplying retailers directly from its headquarters in Northern Italy, supported by dedicated local representatives on the ground. This structure enables closer relationships with dealers and a more responsive approach to the needs of the UK market.
With the SS27 sell-in period now underway, Northwave says it is actively developing new partnerships and engaging with retailers across the country, broadening access to its product offering and accelerating growth opportunities throughout the market.
Northwave continues to strengthen its positioning as a performance-led cycling brand. Formerly known in the UK mostly for its winter boots, Northwave, which pioneered the use of GORE-TEX in cycling shoes in 2004, says it now boasts an established reputation, operating across both footwear and apparel categories and serving riders across multiple cycling disciplines.
Over the past year, Northwave has organised its range into two lines, Core and Extreme, the latter its top-performance tier. The Extreme collection is headlined by two flagship shoe models: the Veloce Extreme – a road shoe developed in Italy with Filippo Ganna, the brand’s most recognisable road athlete and rider of a British WorldTeam – is built around power transfer and efficiency; The new Extreme X, launched in March 2026 and top of the range for cross-country MTB and fast gravel, recently winning at The Traka 200 with Lukas Pöstlberger.

The brand says this evolution reflects its ongoing commitment to innovation and reinforces its positioning at the highest level of cycling performance across both footwear and apparel.
Northwave says this commitment to the UK extends to the market’s leading events. In November, they will be at Rouleur Live in London, widely regarded as one of the most important cycling showcases in the country and a meeting point for the cycling community, the trade, and the sport’s leading names. For Northwave, the event is both a statement of intent in a key market and the stage on which the company will present its Extreme performance range and share news from the SS27 collection.
