Nottingham Forest fans have been commenting pre-match.
Intriguing to read what they have been saying about Newcastle United.
Nottingham Forest fans have never seen their team win a Premier League match at home against United.
Indeed, it was 1987 when Forest last won at home in the top flight against Newcastle.
An interesting time for Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United to play Nottingham Forest.
Forest have only lost three of their last 15 league matches and are top of the Premier League form table with 14 points from the last six rounds of matches.
However, they have just been hammered 4-0 on Thursday night to miss out on a Europa League finals, injuries stacking up and a potentially tired and demoralised team after this setback. Whilst despite winning 3-1 at Chelsea on Monday and being top of the league form table, Vitor Pereira’s side are still only six points above the drop with three games to play.

(Comments on the Newcastle United match before Forest’s Europa League semi-final second leg against Aston Villa on Thursday night)
‘With the excitement of the Aston Villa game tomorrow building it’s easy to forget we face another big match at the City Ground on Sunday which could finally see us to safety.
We certainly can’t afford to relax in the league yet and we need another big performance from the players and crowd to see us over the line against a side we have yet to get a point against at home since we returned to the Premier League.
My favourite home game against Newcastle is probably in 1978 when we paraded the League Cup trophy and beat them 2-0 on a soaking day as we closed in on the 1st Division title.’
‘We’re on the march with Cloughie’s Army!’
‘Newcastle will be my fourth home game of the season and the fourth different manager I’ll have seen’
‘A nice boring 0-0 will do for me.’
‘Same team selection as against Chelsea and we win’
‘Still only won once in the Premier league at home under Pereira, 4 matches.
Let’s fix that as well, win both remaining games.’
‘Time to finally slap the Geordies at home.’
‘Get Thursday out of the way before I can think of Sunday’s game.’
‘2-0. Wood and Hutch.
Start the party.’
‘Since promotion, have failed to even pick up a point at home vs these, worse record than any other team.
Time to right that wrong.’
(Comments on the Newcastle United game after Forest hammered 4-0 at Villa and knocked out of the Europa League 4-1 on aggregate)
‘Sorry to say but I think we will lose against Newcastle. Hopefully Arsenal do their bit though and we can finally breathe.’
‘Newcastle have been rubbish lately, can see us bouncing back with a win.’
‘I don’t think the 2 strikers thing works without Jesus, and with no MGW either, we’ll be back to 0 goals. Need at least one of them.
This will be a very tough game coming just 3 days after last night, both physically and mentally. I honestly hope they can pick themselves up, because we still need a point and because these next 3 games could be the last we see with a big chunk of this squad, and I’d like them to not be a total slog. Not expecting us to be nearly as spirited as on (and until) last Monday, but showing up and fighting would be very much appreciated.’
‘I think it will be Morato to start, not Murillo.
I have no idea if anything has gone off between Murillo and the Club, or whether he has spent time with his agent sorting his summer move out, but he looks to have disengaged from the squad.
I hope I am just imagining this.’
‘I half expect a very flat Forest performance on Sunday.
With the European dream lieing shattered on the floor like a smashed mirror, I think the lads will be wobbling towards season’s end, like an under-prepared entrant in the London Marathon, and we will need external assistance (from the other teams with an input into the relegation place outcome) to get us limping and dazed and confused over the finishing line.’
‘A difficult game after last night.
I think the crowd will be flatter than the team. Hard for the team to pick themselves up. Injuries ravaging the squad.
I think Morato to start, give Murillo an extra game if he needs it.
MGW on the bench and see of we can manage without him, but break glass if required in 2nd half.’
‘I agree but we’re at home and need a performance.
A test of character for the team and crowd I’d say.
Make the final push on Sunday and then we can all relax and look forward to the summer.’
‘Last night hurts – no denying that, we were all dreaming after the first leg.
Times like this I’m glad the big lads in charge, he’ll be hurting as well – but I’m dam sure his thoughts will be that last night confirms his trophy dreams are possible and we go again better and stronger. Every penny he can will be thrown at recruitment this summer – let’s hope we get a couple of gems in for the next stage of the journey.
Heads up and go again.’
‘Consensus seems to be Arsenal will cruise past West Ham with the title in sight. I’m not so confident. West Ham haven’t lost at home since our game there January 6th, and have only conceded four times. They carry a threat from set pieces. And we’ve seen enough of Nuno teams to know if they have a scoreline to protect, they can do it against anyone.
If West Ham reduce that six point lead we have on them, with Forest going away to Man Utd next week, we can still be pulled into a nervy last day with momentum going in the wrong direction.
We’re down to the bare bones. The players will be flat. We need to lift them. Consider dipping into any funds put aside for a holiday this month that you may no longer be taking to consume whatever it is you need to help get the City Ground rocking. We’ve all had enough of Spurs and West Ham fixtures having the power to ruin our weekends. We need to get us over the line ourselves on Sunday before either of them play, and not leave the door open.’
‘Time to move on.
At least we have a few more bodies available in the prem and Newcastle have been very poor of late, and poor away from home all season.’
‘Could be one of those rather tepid games where both sides settle a bit and are missing that bit of sparkle to get a win.’
‘I think we will struggle with this to be honest, we are the walking wounded & are running out of players. Hopefully the motivation is to get the job done & I can totally see the draw many are predicting.
Thank god we beat Chelsea, imagine the anxiety if we didn’t.’
‘The Geordies are already off on their summer hols mentally.
Let’s smash ’em for fun.’
‘Yep, struggle to a draw at best Sunday. Then over to Arsenal (who play away at West Ham on Sunday) to finish the job off, hopefully.’
‘Standard last 10 mins defeat at home to Newcastle with the goal probably coming from that be..end Bruno.
Arsenal – just do the business!’
