The Pittsburgh Steelers and quarterback Aaron Rodgers are in it to win it for one more season. New head coach Mike McCarthy has to be happy about Rodgers being back in the fold. For his first year with the franchise, McCarthy didn’t want to have to figure out the team’s messy quarterback situation, and now, he won’t, because he has Rodgers.
So, the Rodgers deal is done. Both parties seem pleased. While the resolution of the Rodgers situation was huge for the Steelers, there are still contract uncertainties hanging over the team.
In a feature for ESPN out on Wednesday looking at team’s extension situations, Brooke Pryor noted that that the Steelers’ talks with linebacker Patrick Queen aren’t moving along.
Steelers have another deal to tackle
“While the Steelers have been largely proactive in getting extensions done with their 2023 draft class and kicker Chris Boswell, an extension for Queen seems unlikely,” Pryor wrote.
When asked about the progress of an extension in May, Pryor noted, via Pryor, that there have been talks “here and there” but no real movement. “At the end of the day, they got a business to handle,” Queen said, per ESPN. “I got a business to handle. My business, go out there and play the best football I can and put myself in a good position, put our team in a good position so that we both would be successful.”
So, even though Queen isn’t as big a name as Rodgers, this is still a deal that needs attention before too long.
