OG El Grande Americano Unmasked – Chad Gable’s run as the Original El Grande Americano came to an end on May 30 at AAA Noche de Los Grandes, where he lost a violent Mask vs Mask main event and was forced to reveal his identity.
Gable, competing under the Original El Grande Americano persona, faced Ludwig Kaiser, who also wrestled under the El Grande Americano name. The match served as the climax of their long-running rivalry and delivered a chaotic and physical encounter. Weapons such as chairs, tables, and even guitars were used throughout the bout, along with outside interference. Both competitors were left bloodied as the match escalated into an all-out fight.
The finish came when Kaiser connected with a running headbutt, securing the three-count victory. As a result, Gable was forced to remove his mask in the center of the ring.
Following the match, Gable addressed the crowd. Standing in a ring covered in blood and debris, he reflected on his journey under the mask and his time immersed in lucha libre culture.
He explained that he took on the El Grande Americano identity to defeat the luchadores he once resented. During that time, he said he learned about lucha libre, Mexico, and its traditions. Despite his efforts, he admitted he could not overcome what he described as the Mexican spirit.
Gable stated that he would always consider himself the Original El Grande Americano, but acknowledged that going forward, Kaiser is now the only El Grande Americano.
With his family by his side, Gable removed the mask, revealing his bloodied face and confirming his identity. He then spoke about his career accomplishments and introduced his family to the audience.
Before leaving the ring, Gable said he does not know when or how it will happen, but he intends to return to AAA in the future. In a symbolic gesture, he handed his mask to Kaiser, who stood tall as the victor.
The event closed with Kaiser celebrating in the ring before heading backstage with the mask, marking the end of the feud and one of the most intense matches of the year.
