Anadolu Efes head coach Pablo Laso says he is not paying much attention to rumors about potential coaching changes, calling such speculation a normal part of the sport.
“There’s a lot of talk,” Laso said. “I know my own reality, my own situation. I even read that a new coach might come in my place. But what can I do?”
The coach confirmed that both he and the club hold options regarding next season but stressed that his focus remains on winning the Turkish League.
“My situation is very simple,” he explained. “I have a contract for next season. The club has an option not to renew it, and I also have an option not to renew it. That’s normal, but right now, the only thing that concerns me is winning the league.”
The veteran coach also praised Fenerbahce head coach Sarunas Jasikevicius ahead of their semifinal matchup.
“For me, as a player, he was a very tough opponent, and now as a coach, he still is.”
Efes and Fenerbahce begin their best-of-five semifinal series on Monday.
