UFC star Paddy Pimblett has looked ahead to his upcoming collision with Benoit Saint Denis on the main card of UFC 329.
For the longest time, Paddy Pimblett has been seen as a rising star in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Now, we are at a point where he is a genuine title contender, having already competed for the interim belt – only losing to Justin Gaethje, who went on to become the undisputed king of the division when he dethroned Ilia Topuria earlier this month.
Paddy Pimblett is clearly an exceptional fighter in his own right, but if he wants to get through Saint Denis, he will need to show something different to what we saw in the Gaethje collision. BSD is on a really strong run of form right now and he knows that if he can finish ‘The Baddy’, he could be next in line for a crack at the champion.
In a recent clip, Paddy Pimblett discussed his upcoming meeting with the Frenchman.
Paddy Pimblett examines Benoit Saint Denis fight
“I think BSD is a fighter, he’s going to come out very intense, he’s going to try and put it on me like he does with everyone,” Pimblett said on his YouTube channel. “He’s going to try and push the pace. That’s what he does. He doesn’t defend much. He attacks, which will play right into my hands. I’m looking forward to it. I can’t wait to fight someone like BSD, who just comes forward and wants to have a scrap.”
“We know BSD is going to try and take me down, but we don’t know if he’s going to try and take me down,” Pimblett said. “But, we’ve got to be ready for all things. BSD takes most people down. I think he might be a little bit afraid to take me down because he knows I’ll submit him on the ground. But once I give it a few punches, a few kicks, knees, elbows, he’s going to revert back to default settings. Default settings for him are shooting takedowns.”

There’s no denying either way that Paddy is a top contender at lightweight, and you can bet that if he can get the job done against BSD, there will be plenty calling for him to get another title shot – even if the man himself isn’t even convinced that it would be enough.
