Path of Exile 2’s gargantuan 0.5.0 Return of the Ancients update introduces the Spirit Walker ascendancy as the third and final option for its Huntress class, putting versatility at its forefront while also having the ability to tame beast bosses.
A recent showcase video sheds more light on how it is able to harness the power of three different spirits, which give PoE2’s Spirit Walker ascendancy avenues to boost area and projectile damage while also embracing a companion-driven playstyle.
Path of Exile 2 Showcases Spirit Walker Ascendancy Coming in Update 0.5.0
Choosing the Vivid branch of Path of Exile 2’s Spirit Walker ascendancy passive tree conjures stampeding stags that damage enemies in their path while leaving behind patches of shocked ground.
The Primal branch boosts projectile damage, granting feathers that, when spent, increase the number of projectiles fired by skills. Specializing further, you can store the feathers and use multiple at once for a more impactful strike.
The Wild branch grants a ghostly, but nonetheless tanky, bear companion that joins you in battle, maiming enemies, breaking their armor, and intimidating them with its roar.
The bear counts as a minion but doesn’t take up a companion slot, so we can use the Tame Beast gem to summon another ally. If specced into the right PoE2 Spirit Walker ascendancy passive node, Tame Beast can also get defeated beast bosses to fight on our side.
Although specializing into just one path is an option, tapping into all three unlocks the Sacred Unity node that can be selected for free, further boosting the spirits’ power while giving them a fiery makeover.
When used, the stags seek out enemies and turn mid-stampede, the feathers apply a ground effect that buffs the power and defenses of the Huntress and her allies, while the bear offers an additional layer of protection to nearby allies.
The showcase video also includes two build suggestions, one based on the Primal path, which spawns a plethora of twisters that obliterate enemies, another that allows the Huntress to fully rely on companions.
The second build is enabled by the new Sylvan’s Effigy sceptre, which “completely removes the companion cap” while greatly buffing these allies.
