Plans for 25,000-seat London Colosseum to host esports events

Plans for a new 25,000-seat ‘London Colosseum’ venue have this week been revealed by a business consortium.

If it goes ahead, the arena will be housed at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, East London. This is also where the existing Copperbox Arena is situated, a venue that has hosted esports events for years, including Apex Legends ALGS, Rocket League RLCS and League of Legends MSI events, as well as the upcoming VALORANT Masters London in June 2026.

The Colosseum also plans to host world championship boxing events, backed by Queensberry Promotions and Matchroom, plus basketball events, with the arena set to serve as the European home for a London NBA franchise in a new Europe-based league.

According to a press release, the London Colosseum “is tailored to host major international tournament finals” and proposals for the venue “are drawing interest from major sports investors”.

“By connecting London’s growing reputation as a gaming capital to the explosive gaming market in the Middle and Far East,” it continues, “the venue will become a central hub for the future of competitive gaming.”

The development will integrate a multifunctional tower containing a hotel, residences, and community spaces. It also promises low-carbon construction.

Partners behind the project include property specialists Jericho Estates, boxing institution Peacock Gym, consultancy Torch Sports and CHYBIK + KRISTOF ARCHITECTS.

Kevin Davis, Director of Jericho Estates, said: “As a global city with a track record for world-class venues, the London Colosseum will be the most ambitious multi-sport project since the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

“We are in active talks with international partners who recognize that these three sports will drive significant economic and cultural impact and add significant growth to the UK economy.”
