PETERBOROUGH, ON – Race teams, drivers, track officials and fans are looking forward to the 2026 New Country KX 105 Season Opener – featuring free spectator grandstand admission – Saturday, May 16th at Peterborough Speedway. In case of inclement weather Sunday, May 17th will be used as an opening night rain date.
Competitors who will call the popular Central Ontario facility home this year will get a chance to put their equipment to the test before the year’s first green flag during the track’s Open Practice and Media Day – from 11:00 ‘til 4:00 – Saturday, May 9th. Drivers from the venue’s weekly teams and other classes who compete at the track will be on hand for some pre-season laps prior to the first night of the 2026 schedule.
“After finally being able to say “goodbye” to a winter that seemed like it was never going to end, our teams are ready to race,” said Peterborough Speedway track owner and promoter J.P. Josiasse. “The practice time will give them a chance to see how the car feels and how things react to changes that were made during the off-season.”
With admission prices of $25 for drivers and $15 for crew members or spectators, anyone entering the pit area during the testing day will be required to present a completed 2026 Speed Waiver, available on the track website. Cars will not be allowed on the track without up-to-date safety equipment. Mufflers are required for all cars.
During the practice session, tires will be sold for competitors in the Late Model, Super Stock and Renegade Truck divisions. Track transponders will also be available for purchase.
When drivers aren’t on the track, they can stop by the pit tower and join Ben Hodgson to answer some fun questions, play games and take on some of social media’s most popular challenges. Teams will also have the opportunity to update their weekly announcer information to make sure their sponsorship partners and crew members get the exposure they deserve.
