This upcoming weekend, June 27 & June 28, has four big shows for wrestling fans. WWE’s Night of Champions, NXT’s Great American Bash, TNA’s Slammiversary and AEW’s Forbidden Door. Overall we will be getting 12 matches.
On June 27, WWE will be presenting Night of Champions from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The show has two women’s matches on the card with one being the finals of the Queen of the Ring Tournament, while the other is for the Women’s United States Championship.
- QOTR Finals – Liv Morgan vs. IYO SKY
- Winner earns a title shot at SummerSlam. Morgan is already the Women’s World Champion.
- WWE Women’s United States Championship – Tiffany Stratton (c) vs. Jade Cargill
- This is the first time the WWE Women’s U.S. Championship will be defended on a PLE since its inception.
- Stratton has held the title for 62 days and counting and has defended it successfully against Kiana James and Lash Legend.
- Stratton and Cargill are no strangers to each other in the ring as Cargill defeated Stratton for the WWE Women’s Championship at Saturday Night’s Main Event in November.
On June 28, NXT will host its Great American Bash. It will take place in Orlando out of the WWE Performance Center. Three women’s matches are on the card and they are all for championships.
- WWE Women’s Speed Championship – Wren Sinclair (c) vs. Arianna Grace
- Wren won the title back in March and has yet to defend it
- NXT Women’s North American Championship – Zaria (c) vs. Tatum Paxley
- Zaria recently won the title from Paxley.
- NXT Women’s Championship – Lola Vice (c) vs. Kendal Grey
- Lola has been champion since April at Stand and Deliver where she won the title off of Jacy Jayne in a Triple Threat. That match also included Kendal.
- This will be Lola’s fifth title defense as she has held the title for nearly 90 days.
- Will be main eventing the show
The wrestling weekend continues as TWO more shows are coming on June 28, this Sunday.
First, TNA will be having their annual Slammiversary event. It will be taking place in Boston. There are currently three Knockouts matches set for the show.
- Indi Hartwell vs. Mara Sade vs. Elayna Black
- To air on preshow
- All three women have championship gold on their mind
- TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Championship – The Elegance Brand (c) vs. Rosemary & Allie
- The Elegance Brand are in their second reign as champions. They won the belts back in January.
- This will be their fourth title defense
- This is Allie’s first title match since returning to TNA. Her last title match for the promotion was in 2018.
- Rosemary is a former four-time tag team champion in TNA.
- TNA Knockouts World Championship – Lei Ying Lee (c) vs. Xia Brookside
- Lei is in her second reign as champion. She won the title off of Ariana Grace in April, this will be her second defense.
- Lei and Xia were tag team partners until Xia turned heel on her.
Lastly, we have AEW’s Forbidden Door event. This event is cross promotional to include STARDOM, NJPW, and CMLL. There are currently four women’s matches set for the show.
- AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship – Divine Dominion (c) vs. Thunder Rose & Olympia
- To air on the preshow. Olympia is CMLL representation.
- Divine Dominion have been tag team champions since
- TBS Title Survival of the Fittest Qualifier Match – Skye Blue vs. Maika
- To air on preshow. Maika is STARDOM represntation
- Winner goes on to be sixth and final participant in the upcoming July 1 Survival of the Fittest match for the vacant TBS Title. The winner joins Hikaru Shida, Persephone, Kris Statlander, Harley Cameron, and Queen Aminata
- Owen Hart Cup Finals – Mercedes Mone vs. Maya World
- Mone won the Owen Hart Cup last year
- Winner gets AEW Women’s World Title shot
- AEW Women’s World Championship – Thekla (c) vs. Starlight Kid
- Starlight Kid is STARDOM representation
- Thekla has held the belt since defeating Kris Statlander in February.
- This will be Thekla’s seventh title defense.
