Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert raised eyebrows when he skipped the team’s workouts to spend time with his girlfriend, Madison Beer, this week.
The NFL star, who has been dating the pop star since last summer, has been spotted in Europe as the Chargers begin ramping up preparations for the start of the 2026 NFL season.
As voluntary organized team activities roll on for the Chargers back in Los Angeles, Herbert was noticeably absent.
Instead of participating Phase 2 of the Chargers’ voluntary offseason workouts, the signal caller attended a Harry Styles concert with his girlfriend.
Herbert and the singer were captured attending one Styles’s 10 shows in Amsterdam this week.
The Together, Together Tour, which follows the release of Styles’s new album ‘Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally’ earlier this year, kicked off at the Johan Cruijff Arena on Saturday night.

Herbert and Beer were seen attending one of the concerts later in the week with a video shared to social media showing the pop star waving to a fan in the crowd with the quarterback sat alongside her.
Beer’s father, Robert, also shared a photo of the stage from their seats inside the arena to X.
The couple’s public outing comes amid Beer’s own tour across Europe with her Locket Tour kicking off at Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome on Thursday night.
Yet, Herbert’s presence in Europe alongside his celebrity girlfriend has raised eyebrows among NFL circles.
The Athletic’s Daniel Popper reported that Herbert missed voluntary practice on May 11 and missed Tuesday’s practice earlier this week. The Chargers have another voluntary OTA starting May 26.
While the OTA sessions are not mandatory, many have questioned Herbert’s absence, especially given his vital role as quarterback.
‘It’s a very big year for the Chargers and for quarterback Justin Herbert, the sixth overall pick in the 2020 draft,’ NFL analyst Mike Florio said. ‘[He] Has the second contract, getting good money. He’s yet to win a playoff game.
‘Mike McDaniel, the new offensive coordinator, charged with unlocking that for Herbert. The offseason is where a lot of that work is done. Herbert, apparently, has missed some time. Now, we don’t know why, but, most franchise quarterbacks are there.’

Florio also highlighted the quarterback’s importance to teams entering key seasons with offensive changes.
‘Most franchise quarterbacks are dialed in, especially in a key season where you know you’re trying to push to the next level, where you know the offense is going to be different, it’s going to be complicated,’ he added.
Florio continued: ‘We don’t know how long Herbert will be gone. We don’t know why he was absent. All we know is he was. And we know it’s a very important year for him and the Chargers to take full advantage of all the time they have available to get ready for next season.’
Herbert and Beer went public with their romance late last summer after he was pictured visiting her on the set of a music video and they were then seen going for dinner in Los Angeles shortly after the NFL season began.
From there, America’s new power couple haven’t looked back.
Beer often attended Chargers games to cheer Herbert on while he also joined her on the red carpet at a pre-Grammy party in LA in January.
And if there was any question over how much of an influence Beer has on one of football’s biggest stars, Herbert removed all doubt with his recent music video cameo.
Earlier this month, Beer released her latest song ‘lovergirl’, which featured a cameo from boyfriend Herbert.
The NFL star was prominent throughout the intimate video as he carried, walked and cuddled with his pop star girlfriend, as she gushed over him in the lyrics.
