Another bad loss for Emma Raducanu. The 2021 US Open queen has just one match win since signing a $3.5m deal with Uniqlo, she has two match losses and three tournament withdrawals. She has not beaten a top 80 player since September 2025.
Today Emma lost to WTA no. 94 Diane Parry in straight sets 46 67 in Strasbourg WTA 500.
It was her first match with re-hired coach Andrew Richardson, who was in her corner at the US Open when she won three qualifying and seven main draw matches, all without dropping a single set.
So how does a Grand Slam champion get reduced to a journeywoman level player?
One tennis world figure said she adopted an entitled attitude after scoring her big success.
Another says the rest of the WTA players conspired to bring down Little Miss Britches for taking all those sponsor deals at their expense. Everybody is extra motivated to beat her.
Perhaps she has burned out on tennis, the sport she has given the last decade of her life to.
Perhaps she can’t function in the role of “the hunted” as well as she prospered as “the hunter.”
Right now it appears Raducanu may be headed to pickleball with Bouchard if she can’t figure out how to play Grand Slam winning caliber tennis. But then again, who could dare to predict the next chapter of this unique player’s tennis journey? Everybody saw the tennis magic she created once, so she certainly can do it again.
At this point, she has to start looking for unconventional remedies. I have a few ideas…
How about doing a podcast with Maria Sharapova so they can discuss in detail their unique journeys. Remember, Maria, who just started her new podcast, was once in Emma’s shoes after she won her first Grand Slam title at Wimbledon at 17.
Go back to the Rocky Balboa mindset and eschew the Apollo Creed luxury life.
Go visit Andre Agassi in Vegas and spend a week with Andre and Steffi and ask a million questions.
Hire Ash Barty as her new coach.
