Rafael Fiziev claims he got ‘very lucky’ that he landed spinning wheel kick against Manuel Torres at UFC Baku

Rafael Fiziev admits he got very lucky to score a KO win over Manuel Torres.

Fiziev earned a second-round knockout win over Torres in the main event of UFC Baku to get back into the win column. Yet, in the first round, Torres landed some hard shots, and Fiziev admits those impacted him.

After the first round, Fiziev said he told his corner he couldn’t see anything after a jab that got his eye. So, due to the lack of vision, Fiziev said he tried the spinning wheel kick and said he was lucky to land it and get the KO win.

“I’m very lucky. I didn’t see anything when I threw that spinning back kick. He landed a good jab on my left eye, and I think he hit it perfectly. I couldn’t see anything, I tried to shake his hand at the end of the round, but I didn’t see his hand and missed,” Fiziev said to Ariel Helwani.

“I told my corner that I couldn’t see anything, and they just acted like they didn’t hear me… When I decided to throw the spinning back kick, I just did it because I couldn’t see anything… I’m lucky, man.”

With the win, Fiziev is back in the title picture at lightweight and should get a big fight next time out.

However, despite the KO win over Torres in the main event of Manuel Torres, Rafael Fiziev isn’t ranked in the new Meta rankings. Given that he’s ranked in the media ones, Fiziev said he doesn’t care as he will let his fighting do the talking.

“This is AI… This is like stupid bullshit. It’s just a f******g computer, man,” Fiziev said.

With the win at UFC Baku, Fiziev is now 14-5 as a pro. Before the win over Torres, he suffered a TKO loss to Mauricio Ruffy after a decision win over Ignacio Bahamondes.
